The method of fundamental solutions for transient heat conduction in functionally graded materials: some special cases
In this paper, the Method of Fundamental Solutions (MFS) is extended to solve some special cases of the problem of transient heat conduction in functionally graded materials. First, the problem is transformed to a heat equation with constant coefficients using a suitable new transformation and then the MFS together with the Tikhonov regularization method is used to solve the resulting equation.
متن کاملAn Integral Form of the Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation with Variable Coefficients
We discuss an integral form of the Cauchy initial value problem for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with variable coefficients. Some special and limiting cases are outlined.
متن کاملWave Front Set for Solutions to Schrödinger Equations∗
We consider solutions to Schrödinger equation with variable coefficients. Let H be a Schrödinger operator and let u(t) = e−itHu0 with u0 ∈ L(R). We show that the wave front set of u0 in the nontrapping region corresponds to the wave front set of e0u(t), where H0 is the free Schrödinger operator. The correspondence is given by the wave operator for the classical mechanical scattering.
متن کاملMulti-variable Polynomial Solutions to Pell’s Equation and Fundamental Units in Real Quadratic Fields
Solving Pell’s equation is of relevance in finding fundamental units in real quadratic fields and for this reason polynomial solutions are of interest in that they can supply the fundamental units in infinite families of such fields. In this paper an algorithm is described which allows one to construct, for each positive integer n, a finite collection, {Fi}, of multi-variable polynomials (with ...
متن کاملRemarks on a paper by Cordero and Nicola on Feichtinger’s Wiener amalgam spaces and the Schrödinger equation
We derive some consequences of very recent results of Cordero and Nicola on the metaplectic representation, the Wiener amalgam spaces, (whose definition is due to Feichtinger), and their applications to the regularity of the solutions of Schrödinger equation with quadratic Weyl symbol. We do not however discuss the validity of Cordero and Nicola’s claims.
